Harrow Borough Council to hold Dragons' Den-style contest to inspire new business ideas

A Dragons' Den-style competition will come to Harrow to inspire people to start their own businesses.

Harrow Borough Council will encourage people to pitch ideas for a project, business or product to a panel of leading experts at an exhibition.

The contest will form part of the Our Harrow Borough for Business event, and winners will receive a free training course, mentoring with an expert, a free legal business check and marketing help.

During the event, people will also have the chance to speak to experts for vital networking and advice.

Figures from StartUp Britain show Harrow has the fourth highest number of businesses in England, with 9,259 registered.

The event will be held on March 19 and people need to apply for the competition in advance.

The only new businesses I see in Harrow are Doner Kebab and 24hour grocery stores, which are horrible to see. What we need is to encourage a diverse range of businesses which could possibly assist each other, rather all competing with each other.
