Teenagers made sure their voices were heard at an event to encourage young people to vote in elections.

Pupils from schools across Harrow took part in the UK’s first Voter Registration Day, which saw hundreds come together to prove their opinions count.

Students on the AS-Level citizenship course at Hatch End High School held a registration drive on the day to engage their friends in local and national politics.

More than 290 students registered to vote at the event, which also saw live music and cakes with blue, red and yellow icing, to represent the main three political parties.

Mr Sinclair, who organised the event at Hatch End High, said: “This event showed that when informed, young people are enormously interested in politics, and it was really special to see an event run by young people, for young people in the Harrow community.”
