A golf club is celebrating after winning a national golf award for getting young players into the sport.
Stanmore Golf Club has received the GolfMark award and has been officially recognised for its beginner and junior-friendly facilities.
During the past year the club has launched a number of initiatives to encourage children, teenagers and also adult beginners to pick up a set of clubs.
Allan Knott, the club’s general manager, said: “Gone are the days of stuffy and elitist golf, nowadays it is a game that everyone can enjoy and it’s a great for whole families to get involved.
“This award helps us to spread the message that children are safe and secure here, that they’ll learn a sport along with etiquette and manners.”
