The leader of Harrow Borough Council has backed a campaign to stop playing fields being turned into a caravan site.
Cllr Susan Hall made the comments after new plans were submitted to Harrow Borough Council to turn Broadfields, in Headstone Lane into a touring caravan site with 75 pitches.
This is the second application of its kind for the site and a campaign has stated against the proposals called Save Broadfields.
Cllr Hall said: "Like any planning application this will be a matter for the planning committee to determine, however, my strong hope is that the application will be refused.
“This development is not an appropriate use of green belt land and will not be in keeping with the area. It could also cause problems for residents on the roads and increase noise.
“I sincerely hope that local residents will be listened to on this; I have not only listened, but agree with them wholeheartedly.”
Last year campaigners collected more than 4,000 signatures against the proposals, but the plans were withdrawn before the case could be heard by the council planning committee.
