THREE men armed with a gun who tried to steal a car ran off after realising they did not have the keys.
They approached four people sitting in a Peugot 306 convertible outside Southgate tube station by the junction with Chase Side.
One of the gang asked for a cigarette and when they refused a second man pulled out a handgun and ordered them to get out of the car.
He took the keys from the ignition. A 16-year-old girl in the car refused to get out when he ordered her, but then later got out taking a mobile phone with her.
The three men got into the car and the victims called the police on a mobile phone. The three men got out later when they realised that one of the victims had managed to get the keys back.
They ran off towards Ashfield Parade and were chased by the victims.
The man with the gun was black, aged around 20 black and 6ft 2ins tall. The man who first approached the group is described as black, aged around 20 and 6ft 2ins tall. He wore blue jeans and a white bandana around his mouth. He wore a cream jacket with blue jeans. The third man was black, aged around 20, 5ft 10ins tall and wore blue jeans.
