Charlie Harris, former editor of the Harrow Times, has passed away.

Mr Harris, who was the first editor of the paper in 1997, died on Saturday January 4, at St Luke’s Hospice, in Kenton Grange.

He was also president of The Chartered Institute of Journalists (CIOJ) and after his time as editor at the paper he went on to teach journalism at several colleges in London.

A statement on the CIOJ website said: “We are sorry to inform you that Charlie has died. His death is a great loss to the Institute.”
