Woman from Hatch End fined for using dead mother's disabled parking badge

A woman has been fined more than £700 for using her late mother’s out-of-date disabled parking badge.

Jean Mancey, of Gable Close, Hatch End, altered the expiry date on her mother’s blue badge from 2013 to 2018. Her mother died in February 2012.

The 57-year-old was caught out when she was given a parking ticket in Debenhams car park in May, 2013 when the traffic warden noticed the expiry date on the badge had been changed using a black pen.

She admitted to using the pass fraudulently at Willesden Magistrates Court on December 17 and was fined £750 with a £15 victim surcharge.
