Plans to expand St Anselm’s Primary school dropped
Plans to expand a primary school have been dropped by the council after review of a feasibility study.
St Anselm’s Primary school in Roxborough Park, Harrow, had been earmarked for expansion by Harrow Borough Council earlier this year.
However proposals have been dropped following a detailed feasibility study which revealed core plans would be unlikely to gain planning permission due to the location of the build.
Also expansion would be unaffordable for the programme and consultation with roads near the site found there was strong opposition to the plans.
A spokesman for the council said: “We explored every feasible option at St Anselm’s, but there were simply too many challenges to overcome at this time.
“Our school expansion programme has a responsibility to keep costs under control and offer the most beneficial solutions for children, parents, teachers and residents.
“We would like to thank everyone who participated in this process.”
The school was one of 11 schools earmarked for expansion as part of the council’s second phase work to provide a further 3,000 places schools.
