Barnet FC and its stadium the Hive were in the news again in October after Harrow Borough Council issued the club with an enforcement notice.

The notice was is in regards to the Edgware stadium's floodlights and west stand being built outside specifications agreed by the council.

It would give the club six months to demolish the stand and three months to remove the lights at the Camrose Avenue ground or risk facing prosecution.

However after the notice was announced the club said it would appeal against the council’s decision to refuse planning permission for the stadium in September.

September also saw the new Conservative administration announce it would invest £500,000 to return the borough to its former glory.

The cash boost was announced as part of new leader Susan Hall’s pledge to make the borough a cleaner place.

However the opposition Labour group attacked the move and said it was irresponsible money-management which would leave a black hole in the budget.

There was outrage from traders across the borough after the council’s cabinet announced it would be scrapping plans to introduce 20-minutes free parking.

The cabinet said it would not introduce the proposals following a trial which started in August under the Independent Labour group.

Parking campaigners were left gobsmacked at the decision and said the lack of free parking would kill off small and independent businesses.

However Cllr Susan Hall said it was not the end free parking in Harrow and she did not rule out looking at a similar policy in the future.
