Health board calls for people to be 'health wise' this winter

The body responsible for public health services in the borough is calling for people to choose the right NHS service this winter.

Harrow Clinical Commissioning Group is giving people tips on how to be health wise during the cold months to help ease the pressures on A&E units.

They advise people that self-care is the best option for those with a common complaint such as a cold, and free health advice is available at pharmacists across the borough.

The group is also calling on people to make use of the NHS 111 number if they are feeling unwell and it is not an emergency.

Dr Amol Kelshiker, chairman of the group, says he wants people to be aware of the different ways they can look after themselves in the winter and what NHS services are available to them.

The CCG, run by a team of GPs, is responsible for the planning and running of many health services across the borough such as emergency care, mental health services and community care.
