A class raised money for their teacher’s brother who was injured by a roadside bomb while serving in Afghanistan.

Pupils of tutor group 10CJ from Park High School, Stanmore, raised money for the brother of their teacher Chris Jones.

His brother Tim was injured by an improvised explosive device while he was on tour in Afghanistan with the 1st Battalion Princess of Wales Royal Regiment in November 2011.

Without their teacher knowing, the class pulled together and organised a cake sale to raise £132 for charity Help for Heroes.

Last week Tim Jones visited pupils at the school to thank them for their hard work raising the money.

Pupil Kushali Assani said: “Due to recent events we felt compelled to raise money for Help for Heroes in aid of our tutor’s brother.

“We did this by making and selling cookies and sweets after school. As our tutor has supported us a great deal throughout these past few years, we thought why not support him in his time of need.”
