An MP has handed over a cheque for £1,600 after he took on a gruelling triathlon challenge.
Gareth Thomas MP raised the money for the Harrow branch of Parkinson’s UK after completing three triathlons this summer.
Mr Thomas took part in The South Coast Triathlon, Blenheim Palace triathlon and Hatch End triathlon, surpassing his target of £1,000.
The MP for Harrow West said: “I’m delighted to be able to present this cheque to the Harrow branch of Parkinson’s UK. This local team do excellent work and I’m sure the funds raised will go to good use in the community.
“I particular enjoyed meeting some of my fellow fundraisers, Mary’s skive dive and John’s golf tournament are great examples of the fun that can be had in raising money for a good cause.”
Mr Thomas also met fellow fund raisers Mary Reid who raised £1,600 by doing a skydive in April and John Brothwell who raised £850 by organising a golf tournament.
All money will go to Harrow Parkinson’s UK, in Montrose Road, which helps people across the borough who have been diagnosed with the disease.
