Family joins together for 100th birthday
A woman celebrated reaching her 100th birthday surrounded by her friends and family.
Florence Dorothy Littlejohn was joined by her family at the Grims Dyke Hotel, in Harrow Weald, to celebrate reaching the milestone on Sunday.
Born in Fulham in 1913 to a family of 11, she moved to Shepherds Bush when at the age of 12 which was also the time when she met her future husband Alec, who lived nearby.
Her sister Mary Sadler said: “It was a wonderful celebration and we all had a lovely time. It was great to have the whole family together.
“I have always looked up to Florence and all my sisters, but with her and Alec so close and in the family home they were like parents to me.”
Mrs Littlejohn lives in Rowley Close, Wembley, the same house she moved to in the early 1930s and where she married her husband Alec in 1935.
She worked an artist before and during the Second World War with her own business painting glassware and selling it to Harrods.
The couple had two sons, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren, many of whom attended the party on Sunday with other friends and family members.
Throughout her life she had a number of jobs including working at home making Christmas crackers and powder puffs and later became a receptionist.
