Moving back to an indoor venue proved to be a masterstroke as hundreds turned out for the West Harrow village fete.
For the second time in six years, St Peters Church in Sumner Road, Harrow, opted to hold its fete inside the church due to bad weather and it proved to be a popular choice as the church was converted into hub of activity.
The West Harrow choir put on a dazzling performance, and vicar Revernend Will Van Der Hart was one of many who testing his duelling skills in a bouncy gladiator ring.
The vicar was delighted with the range of activities for all ages.
He said: “Unfortunately this is the second fete in six years that has had to be indoors, which is a shame, but the space is brilliant and it is unique for us to have this. It does mean that it works well inside.
“People are looking for a blend of good music and good coffee but also, particularly parents of small children, love the fact there is traditional games and face painting. We do a lot with older people too such as serving cream teas and doing foot massages so there is quite a lot of variety. There’s a great vibe about the place.”
Rev Van der Hart said his favourite part of the fete was the singing from the choir.
He said: “I think for me seeing the West Harrow Village choir who were just absolutely brilliant and it is a very broad representation of our local area.
"We are trying to build a positive relationship with the community and although this year was slightly smaller than years before it has still been a very enjoyable day.”
