Supermarket shoppers dig deep for Harrow Food Bank
Supermarket shoppers donated more than 800kg of goods to the borough’s food bank to help those in need.
Volunteers from the Harrow Foodbank, joined by members of youth group the Challenge Network, collected food from shoppers at Waitrose Supermarket in Harrow Weald.
The food bank, which has been formed by churches in the borough, took non-perishable food on Saturday and Sunday from people who bought a little extra on top of their weekly shop to donate.
The bank, which was created earlier this year, is based at Holy Trinity Church in Wealdstone and provides three days of emergency food to people referred by any of 12 partner organisations.
