Diabetes charity Silver Star to hold fun walk in Harrow next week
People taking part in a charity walk to help raise awareness of diabetes will have the chance to meet a Bollywood legend.
Harrow-based charity Silver Star will be hosting the family fun walk on Sunday September 8, in Cannons Park at 3pm.
Walkers will be able to meet Bollywood legend and international patron of the charity Amitabh Bachchan.
Also taking part in the event will be the chief executive of Harrow Borough Council Michael Lockwood, who will be leading the walk.
He said: “Diabetes is affecting more and more people so it is vital that we raise awareness through community events like the Family Fun Walk.
“Some of our residents will not know they have diabetes, others will be able to reduce their chances of getting it by making changes to their eating habits.
“The walk will be a fantastic chance to get together, have some fun and hopefully enjoy the sunshine. You can help make a real difference by signing up.”
For the walk there is a sign up fee of £1, with all money raised going towards the charity, and during the event the charity will be offering diabetes checks.
Those interested in signing up to the event can register by emailing email@example.com or people can just turn up on the day.
