Students of Harrow celebrate A- Level exam success
Students from across Harrow have been celebrating after getting their A level results today.
After months of hard work, those at Stanmore College, in Elm Park, anxiously waited to find out if they got the grades they needed to secure a place at university or on a vocational course.
Many left happy, with the college recording a 96 per cent pass rate for its A-Level results.
One pupil who did particularly well was 19-year-old Siavash Radjabi who got four A* grades in maths, further maths, physics and economics.
He said: “I have to say this morning I was quietly confident but I was a bit nervous. I’m so happy with the results I got and I am quite relieved it is done.”
Mr Radjabi will now be going to University College London to study maths and economics and hopes one day to get into the world of economics.
Mohammad Beitsadi, 20, also left happy, achieving A*s in maths, further maths and physics and will now going on to study aerospace engineering at Imperial College London.
He said: “I’m just over the moon really and I know my mum is really happy. I’m just glad I got what I needed.
“Everyone at the college has been really helpfully, especially in the maths department because they were there when we got stuck with anything.”
Also celebrating today was Lucy Mair, 18, who got A* in maths, further maths and physics and As in chemistry and computer science.
"I was a bit stressed this morning because I just wanted to know what I had got. I’m really really happy with my results and I can’t wait to get to university now."
In September Miss Mair will be heading to Cambridge to study computer science.
Principle of the college Jacqui Mace said: “I am really pleased with the results we have had this year and for all the students who have put in so much hard work.
“It think the results really show that if you work hard and put in the effort you will succeed and the results can be a great foundation for your future.”
