A campaign has been launched to save a historic barn which some fear will be lost if action is not taken.

Copse Farm Barn, in Copse Farm, Harrow Weald, is believed to date back to the 17th Century and was originally used for storing and threshing grain.

From 1939 the site became the home of Suzanne's Riding School, which closed in 2004. Since then the buildings have been unoccupied.

Campaigners have already gathered more than 250 signatures on an online petition site and are looking for support to save the historic buildings which are falling into disrepair.

The farm and its buildings are part of the Brookshill Drive and Grimsdyke conservation area, which was created in 1978.

The petition said: “The farm and its barn are of historical and architectural interest and as such should be fully preserved for future generations.

“As the only surviving demesne farm and barn in the area it needs protecting.”
