Olympic volunteer from Pinner to take part in anniversary bike ride
A woman will be riding round the streets of London as part of a cycle tour to reignite the Olympic spirit of last year.
Judith Swallow, of Lyndhurst Avenue, Pinner, who organises clinical trials at West Middlesex University Hospital, will be taking part in the London leg of the Pedal On UK tour later this month.
The 46-year-old will be joining other volunteers, celebrities and sports stars cycling from the Olympic Park in Stratford to Cheshunt covering a total distance of 37 miles.
Last year was a 2012 Games Maker leading people on bike rides to Olympic events.
She said: “Leading the rides to various London Olympic sites was a lot of fun and enabled me to meet up with Sustrans volunteers outside my area, and members of the public wishing to use their bikes as transport.
“It also unexpectedly provided an excellent opportunity to see the Olympics at first hand; the cycling time trial.
“I was also a volunteer active travel champion in the NHS. I particularly liked the idea of trying to get more people cycling and walking to work as I’ve personally found it of great benefit to my physical and mental well-being as well as my wallet.”
The Pedal On UK tour, organised by the charity Sustrans, will start on August 16 in London and end in Glasgow next month.
