Bob Blackman MP welcomes health watchdog report on St Mark's Hospital
An MP has welcomed a report from the health watchdog giving a specialist hospital a clean bill of health.
St Mark's Hospital, in Watford Road, Harrow, received full marks for quality of service from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in the way it ensures that consent to care, treatment and support has been obtained from patients.
Bob Blackman MP has welcomed the report, which was released last week following an inspection at the end of June.
The representative for Harrow East, and a former patient of the hospital, said: “Recent illness has given me a first hand experience of the quality of care at St Mark’s Hospital and I am not surprised at all by the CQC’s findings.
“It is a remarkable local hospital and we are very fortunate to have it on our doorstep.”
The CQC’s report said the hospital had suitable arrangements in place for obtaining, and acting in accordance with the consent of patients in relation to care and treatment provided.
St Mark's Hospital is a national and international referral centre for intestinal and colorectal disorders and is recognised as a world leader for research.
The CQC is the healthcare regulator for England and carries inspections of facilities across the county to ensure necessary service levels are being provided.
