Zippers Bowling Association give thank you donation to Northwick Park Hospital
Heart patients presented a £2,500 to Northwick Park Hospital to say a special thank you for their NHS care.
Brian Goodley of Zipper's Bowling Association handed over a cheque to Dr Yvonne Stern, senior chief cardiac physiologist, who accepted the cash on behalf of the cardiology department.
Most of the Bowling Association members have had heart transplants, new valves, stents or pacemakers fitted or had multiple bypass operations – including Mr Goodley who underwent triple bypass surgery in 1994.
Dr Stern said: “The money is very much appreciated and will help us buy a much-needed heart monitor. It was a pleasure to meet Brian and I would like to wish Zipper's well with their continued fundraising work.”
Members of the bowling association raise funds for local cardiac hospitals, coronary care units and rehabilitation centres as a thank you for their successful operations and improved lifestyles.
The association has raised more than £200,000 since 1996.
