A hammer attack that left a man with a fractured skull was featured on the BBC's Crimewatch as police appealed for witnesses.

CCTV footage of the assault outside the Shanakee Pub, in High Street, Wealdstone in February was used in the programme on Monday night.

It showed a man who had an argument with a group of people attending a birthday party inside.

After the dispute the man was seen leaving the pub, but he returned a few minutes later and made towards a group of people outside with whom he had been arguing earlier.

A scuffle then took place during which the man pulled out a hammer, hitting one man over the head.

The victim was knocked unconscious straight away and suffered a fractured skull. The man with the hammer walked away.

Police are calling for anyone with any information about the incident which took place in the early hours of Saturday February 16 to get in contact.
