It was a chatty Harrow great-grandmother's 106th birthday on Saturday - but the first of its kind for the borough's mayor.
Great grandmother Violet Lloyd was born on April 16, 1907 - seven years before the outbreak of the First World War.
She later worked as a dinner lady in a school in Hammersmith, married and had two children called Bill and Joyce.
Mrs Lloyd, who is a grandmother and a great-grandmother, has lived at St Joseph’s residential home since November 2005, where staff described her as a lively and independent woman who loves to chat to others.
The Mayor of Harrow Nizam Ismail said: “I have never been to a 106th birthday before so I was delighted to be able to visit Violet on this special occasion. I wish her and her family the best of health and happiness."
