Harrow Borough Council and a non-profit organisation are offering taxpayers the chance to win £25,000.
The council is teaming up with Bacs Payment Schemes Ltd (Bacs), the organisation behind Direct Debit, to offer people who pay their council tax by Direct Debit the chance to win the cash prize.
To be in with a chance of winning residents must register to pay their council tax bill by Direct Debit before 5pm on July 12.
Residents who already pay their council tax bill electronically will be automatically entered into the prize draw.
The authority is one of 17 London boroughs taking part in the draw.
To sign up residents should return a completed paper Direct Debit Instruction to the council, sign up via the council’s website or set it up over the phone by calling 020 8901 2610.
