United Reformed churches of Eastcote and Northwood Hills to share sites with community groups
A pair of churches in Eastcote and Northwood Hills will be merging to form a new church with two buildings from the end of this month.
The congregations of St Andrew’s United Reformed Church in Eastcote and Northwood Hills United Reformed Church will be joining under the name United Reformed Church of Eastcote and Northwood Hills.
From Easter Sunday on March 31 the new church will be holding its Sunday services at its Eastcote site and all others in Northwood Hills.
Reverend Liz Shaw has been the minister for both churches for the past seven years and said that the union was a natural progression.
She said: “The decision was taken by the entire congregation and they are very optimistic about the future.
“We are very excited because it is a new beginning for us.”
Both churches went through a consultation process during the past 18 months and the communities in Eastcote, Pinner and Northwood Hills made the decision.
As part of the new plans, both buildings will be shared with other organisations and community groups such as the Alzheimer’s Society.
From May, the church will be holding a new midweek service on the first Thursday of the month and a midweek communion on the third Thursday of every month at the Northwood Hills church.
