Pensioner with Parkinson's skydives for charity
A pensioner from Harrow who suffers from an incurable brain disease will be taking part in a sponsored skydive to raise money for charity.
Mary Reid, 69, was diagnosed with Parkinson's nine years ago and will be falling from the heavens to fundraise for Parkinson’s UK, a research and support charity.
Mrs Reid believes people don’t know enough about the debilitating condition and hopes her daring plummet will raise people's awareness of how difficult living with Parkinson's is.
She said: “Living with Parkinson’s is challenging and doing basic everyday things like making a cup of tea, and even turning on a light switch for example can be extremely difficult.
“I don’t think people know enough about Parkinson’s and how it affects your everyday life.
On Saturday April 6, Mrs Reid will join 29 other skydivers who will jump out of an aircraft for Parkinson’s UK, and freefall over Netheravon Airfield, near Salisbury.
She will be skydiving with her daughter Jackie Reid, 37.
