Bhavisha Parmar hopes to raise £3,000 for Deafness Research UK

A hearing expert from Rayners Lane will be running two marathons in two months to raise money for research into hearing loss.

Bhavisha Parmar, 23, of Waverley Road, will be running the Silverstone half marathon this Sunday and the London Marathon in April to raise money for the charity Deafness Research UK.

She has already raised £1,846 but has a target of £3,000.

Ms Parmar said: “This will be my first marathon so I’m pretty excited.

“I’m an audiologist and I work with people who have hearing problems everyday so this inspired me.

“The main thing I want to do is raise awareness of hearing loss and how it can be prevented as well as raise money towards research into curing hearing loss.”

The Northwick Park and Central Middlesex Hospital employee will be running the marathon in fancy dress, wearing a “Super-Hear-O” outfit, and hopes to complete the half marathon in two and a half hours.

She added: “My training is going really well, I’m running about 17 to 18 miles a week but it will go up once I've finished the half marathon.”

Ms Parmar is also organising an acoustic music event with her friend James Selvadurai, called Acoustic Unchained, to showcase local musical talent and fundraise for her cause.

It will be held at Trinity, on Station Road, on March 6 and begin at 8pm.
