Harrow councillor Husain Akhtar praises retiring Harrow Police Borough Commander, Dal Babu
3:00pm Tuesday 29th January 2013 in News By Emma Innes
A community representative has paid tribute to Harrow Police’s departing Borough Commander.
Councillor Husain Akhtar, independent representative of Canons ward and a former member of Harrow Police and Community Consultative Group (HPCCG), has praised Chief Superintendent Dal Babu who announced his retirement yesterday.
Cllr Akhtar said: “I have worked very closely with six police chiefs in Harrow so far but Dal is different in that he is a more down to earth and readily approachable community figure.
“Dal had bad start in Harrow as he had to deal with the English Defence League situation soon after his posting.
"Later he had to address community matters such as the attacks on the HPCCG and, presently, the controversial police consultation but he has tackled all of these very wisely – I wish him well”.
Councillor Akhtar retired from the HPCCG in 1995 after 12 years involvement in the work of the group.
