Harrow Asian Deaf Club is welcoming three new faces to help promote its work in the community.

Deepa Shastri, Councillor Vina Mithani and Councillor Krishna Suresh are all becoming 'ambassadors' of the group, which offers activities and services to deaf people in the borough.

Club president Asif Iqbal said: “Deepa is well known in the deaf community. She is an inspiration for many people who know her and she was one of the first Deaf Asian Sign Song performers at the recent Paralympic Opening Ceremony.

“Councillor Vina Mithani is a keen supporter of HADC, after joining to learn BSL and was a recent speaker at our Eid and Diwali celebration.

“Councillor Krishna Suresh is a keen advocate for Harrow community issues and is keen to support our work by raising deaf voices.

“We are very much looking forward to working with all of our three new ambassadors on promoting community cohesion and raising awareness at all levels.”

Navin Shah, London Assembly Member for Harrow, Bob Blackman, MP for East Harrow, Gareth Thomas, MP for West Harrow, and Superintendent Dal Babu, Borough Commander of Harrow Police, are all already ambassadors.
