A medical student from Hatch End is organising a sponsored run in the hope of raising £10,000 for charity.

Alisha Allana, 22, who lives in Albury Drive, is organising the event in Regents Park on March 16.

The fundraiser, which will involve more than 300 runners, will raise money for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), a charity which provides international medical aid.

Runners, most of whom are students at University College London, Kings College London, Imperial College, Oxford and Cambridge, will tackle a 5km or 10km course.

Ms Allana, who is a fifth year medical student at University College London, has been involved in the charity since her first year at university.

Now in the committee of Friends of Médecins Sans Frontières, she has taken part in the annual run in the past but this year decided to hang up her running shoes and take part in the organisation instead.

The former North London Collegiate School student said: “It is a charity that appeals to me as a medic.

“The event is about raising awareness as well as about raising money.”

She added: “The planning is a huge amount of work, especially on top of university work, but it is really, really fun as well.

“I am really excited about it, hopefully all the hard work will pay off.”

Ms Allana hopes to work with MSF when she has qualified as a doctor.
