A Harrow primary school is celebrating after receiving Ofsted's highest rating.

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School was inspected on December 12 and 13 and learnt last week it had received an 'outstanding' rating.

The Dobbin Close school, which has 420 pupils, was planning to hold a small party for the children on Friday.

However, it was forced to close early because of the snow.

Therefore, the party was held this morning instead.

Previously St Joseph’s had been given an interim inspection in January 2011 when it was deemed to be good with outstanding features.

Headteacher Philip Sutton said: "We are extremely proud of achieving 'outstanding' - a clear endorsement of the great work that is carried out by pupils, staff, governors and parents - it's a real team effort.

"The judgement is not just about the two day inspection, but more so the ongoing commitment and high standards that we aspire to as a learning community."
