All Saints Church, in Harrow Weald, works with the Trussell Trust to set up food bank

A Harrow church is hoping to set up a food bank to help the borough’s struggling families.

All Saints Church, in Harrow Weald, is working with national food bank charity, The Trussell Trust, to help Harrow’s hidden hungry.

The church is holding a meeting at 12.15pm on Thursday January 24 to discuss the creation of a food bank.

It is hoped that it will eventually be a cross-church, cross-organisation, cross-community project in the area.

So far the Trussell Trust has helped local communities to launch almost 300 such food banks across the country.

The charity’s aim is to create one in every community.

If you are interested in attending the meeting you are asked to let the vicar of All Saints Church, James Mercer, know by emailing james_ashw@mac.com

It is very sad in this day and age that we need food banks in this country. However it is now a necessity and am very pleased that All Saints want to help people who go hungry. Harrow Council take note, there are people in our borough who cannot afford to put food on their table through lack of money! Is this not enough to convince you to scrap the 2% increase in Council Tax this year, you are a disgrace!
