Elderly couple from Stanmore 'angry' as bins are left to overflow by Harrow Borough Council

An elderly couple are “very angry” because the bins outside their flat were left to overflow during the Christmas period.

Pensioner Colin Gray says that between December 22 and January 11 the bins in his block of 50 flats in Elizabeth Gardens, Stanmore, were only emptied once by Harrow Borough Council.

Mr Gray, 76, claims that the bins, which are normally emptied every Friday, overflowed, leaving the ground littered with everything from used nappies to food waste.

Mr Gray, who has lived in the street for 30 years, said: “We were very angry. The council wasn’t taking any notice of us. Other streets seemed to be cleared but I think we just got missed.

“I am always worried that we will be neglected. I can only hope that this problem will be addressed before next Christmas.”

The Harrow Times is awaiting a comment from Harrow Borough Council.

This just didnt happen in Stanmore. The block of flats where I live in Pinner were "left behind" too!!
I emailed the council but but a generic email saying it was Christmas and they were very busy!!!!
Even though other residents bins in the street were emptied. It seems the council were too lazy to empty any bins belonging to flats!

I wouldnt hold your breath in waiting for any decent comment from the council either....
