The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital has released images of the building it hopes will replace its current dilapidated premises.

The Stanmore hospital has released pictures of some of its current buildings as well as an artist’s impression of what a new building might look like.

The hospital this week applied for planning permission for the proposals, which it says will secure its future at the site.

Currently, 60 per cent of the buildings are more than 60 years old and many wards were originally designed for temporary use during the Second World War.

The planned improvements include new wards, a multi-storey car park, accommodation for parents and children, a private patients unit, a staff accommodation block and residential units would be built.
