As hundreds battle to keep their New Year’s resolutions, members of a weight loss group rose to their challenge by donating tasty treats to a hospice.
People at Slimming World Kenton, which meets in Woodgrange Avenue, cleared out their cupboards to shed the pounds and put a smile on the faces of patients at St Luke’s Hospice.
They dropped off two huge sacks of chocolates, nibbles and other Christmas treats into the Kenton Lane hospice earlier this week.
Abbie Alter, who runs the weight loss group, said: "We are pleased to support St Luke’s because some of our members have been personally touched by the work they do.
"As the saying goes – our loss is their gain. Everyone at the hospice was absolutely delighted.
"We also donated a huge pot of spare change we have been collecting over the past few months and are just waiting to confirm how much we raised."
