TfL says the walk-out is unlikely to have any impact on passengers’ travel tomorrow
Tube operators say Friday’s industrial action by maintenance workers is unlikely to impact on train services.
Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union will stage a walk-out on the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines from 6am on Friday until 6am on Saturday in a row over pensions and benefits.
The union claims workers for Tube Lines, which maintains the network, should have had their pensions and benefits brought level with existing Transport for London (TfL) staff when the two merged in 2003.
Tube Lines says maintenance staff have retained their existing employment conditions and labelled the strike “unnecessary”.
TfL says the walk-out is unlikely to have any impact on passengers’ travel tomorrow.
Jon Lamonte, chief executive of Tube Lines, said: "Should this action go ahead we have plans in place which will ensure that all London Underground maintenance standards are adhered to.
“The previous action had no effect on passenger services and we do not expect any impact from this action.
“We urge the RMT leadership to end their action and return to talks, as their issues will only be resolved through constructive discussion.”
