Children's first aid sessions on offer for worried parents in Harrow

A charity is running children’s first aid classes after a survey found two thirds of parents would not know what to do in an emergency.

The British Red Cross is running 19 sessions in the borough from today until December 22 on how to treat babies and children and will launch a website tomorrow offering free advice.

Head of first aid education at the charity, Joe Mulligan, said: “We’re asking parents to set themselves this challenge – learn something, no matter how much time you have.

“Even 15 minutes is enough to learn something that could make all the difference in an emergency.”

A survey of 2,000 parents found that two-thirds did not feel confident enough to intervene in an emergency or were worried they would get something wrong.
