CAMPAIGNERS have accused Post Office Ltd of ignoring residents after plans to close seven local branches were agreed last week.
Evelyn Gottlieb, of Whitmore Road, was one of a number of campaigners who collected 2,650 signatures on petitions to save the post office in High Street, Harrow-on-the-Hill.
She said: "I'm disgusted because when we were going to gather signatures there was 99 per cent support for the campaign.
"They've ignored Harrow School, they've ignored all the small businesses and the disabled and elderly people up on the hill.
"They gave us the opportunity to have our say, but they took no notice."

Outrageous! Surely the toffs of Harrow School and the owners of the regions most expensive property should have their local coveniences subsidized by the poor. Now the posh on the Hill might have to mix with the oiks down below. They just aren't socially equipped to do so - and imagine poor Tarquin having to walk all that way to post home letters to mummykins. And what about the environment? All those extra chauffer-driven Bentley journeys up and down the hill could have a disastrous effect on ozone levels. Perhaps us chavs should organize a whip round to keep the post office open, and the rich in their ivory tower.
