Thousands of pounds wasted by council

Gordon Brown and the Labour Party brought our country close to financial ruin. It will take time to recover and we all face tough times for a few years to recover from Labour’s mismanagement.

I know many residents are tightening their belts and postponing holidays, cutting going out to restaurants, theatre or cinema and generally spending less on themselves and their families.

They will therefore be appalled that Labour councillors have the audacity to spend over £4,000 of taxpayer’s hard-earned money to treat themselves to an all-expenses-paid stay at a fancy country hotel and drink more than £150 worth of wine out of their taxes.

For these same Labour councillors to then have the cheek to book themselves into the same all-expenses-paid treat in October just rubs salt into the wound. That’s another £4000 — £5000 of our taxes down the drain.

I wonder what the constituents of Ann John and her fellow Labour councillors think about this issue? And whether they will be happy to elect councillors who waste their money like this next time, as their judgement is clearly unfavourable to those who they serve? Decent Brent residents do not work hard and pay their council tax only to see it squandered in this way by selfish Labour councillors.

This waste of our money must stop and it must stop now. If the Labour leadership do not cancel the October booking for their extravagant hotel stay immediately, they should be sacked.
