Award-winning Bunny hops in from The Fringe

Penning scripts for award-winning shows such as Skins and Shameless, Jack Thorne has certainly captured the voice of contemporary British youth.

He won the Best British Newcomer at the BFI London Film Festival in 2009 for his book and film The Scouting Book for Boys and also received critical acclaim for his hit Channel 4 TV series Cast Offs.

Fresh from scoring a Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh Festival and and a five-star review from The Scotsman, Jack’s latest show Bunny marks the return of Creative Associates nabokov, who brought Jack’s sell-out production 2nd May 1997 to the Watford Palace stage.

Bunny is a frank and uncompromising monologue told from the perspective of bolshy 18-year-old Katie, played by Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama graduate Rosie Wyatt.

On an unbearably hot day in summer, a trivial fight involving Katie’s boyfriend soon escalates into a fierce urban siege that exposes the complex racial tensions of their hometown.

On the brink of adulthood and caught up in a confusing search for her own identity, Katie must come to terms with a society that seems to have lost sight of its own.

Bunny is at Watford Palace Theatre on September 6 and 7 at 7.45pm.

On Monday, September 6, audiences can decant to the Green Room Bar to see a free post-show entertainment where two actors will be performing a scene written by Jessica Hynes, (Shaun of the Dead, Harry Potter and Spaced). There will also be a multimedia performance from one of nabokov’s recent shows present: tense events, and on Tuesday, September 7, there will be a post-show Q&A in the auditorium.
