THE BOAT THAT ROCKED
From April 1
The big picture: In 1966, arguably the high water mark for British pop music, only pirate radio played rock & pop from the high seas around the clock. Written and directed by Richard (Love Actually) Curtis, this is a must-see comedy about the band of rogue DJs who captivated Britain, playing the music that defined a generation and standing up to a government that, incomprehensibly, preferred jazz. Bill Nighy, Rhys Ifans (both below), Philip Seymour Hoffman, Nick Frost, Kenneth Branagh, Emma Thompson and Gemma Arterton are among the glittering cast.

MONSTERS VS ALIENS
From April 3
The big picture: Ooze gonna save us? This is the epic new animated adventure from the team behind Shark Tale and the Shrek series. When a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and starts wreaking havoc, a motley crew of monsters is assembled to save us all from imminent destruction. The out-ofthis- world voice cast includes Reese Witherspoon, Hugh Laurie, Seth Rogen and Kiefer Sutherland.

RED CLIFF
The big picture: The latest stunt-filled adventure from legendary director, John Woo. This Chinese epic is based on the historic Battle of Red Cliff at the end of the Han Dynasty and prior to the period of the Three Kingdoms. It features numerous battles of wit and forces on land and water, culminating in the most famous battle in Chinese history, where 2,000 ships were burned and Chinaʼs destiny was changed forever. Stunning visuals, astounding action.
