London House, an exclusive development of 11 private one, two and three bedroom apartments set on London Road, a desirable St Albans location, is a prime example of a truly successful new homes development. The unique scheme, created by Edit Residential, was sold completely off-plan without the developer having to commence full marketing.

Spearheaded by brothers Jamie and Shane Aherne, St Albans based Edit Residential created London House to showcase impressive design, quality of finish and attention to detail.

Shane Aherne, co-founder of Edit Residential, comments: “A key element of London House’s success is that we challenged expectations by taking a precise approach in every detail to create a fully considered scheme. We believe this to be the best development in St Albans.

With all our projects we look to partner with industry leading consultants in order to make truly unique developments that are relevant to their context and local demand, rather than simply regurgitate the pastiche buildings that we all see far too often. On London House, we appointed interior designers SAY Architects to design the communal spaces with the emphasis on creating a boutique hotel feel, whilst also scoping the finishing palette for the apartments. We were also delighted to work alongside award winning John Davies Landscapes to design an exceptional garden which really takes the development to the next level.

Our ethos is to consider every element of a development down to the smallest detail, which we hope is evident in the success of London House. The team believed we had created something special, but the amount of positive feedback from St Albans locals and new buyers really cemented our pride in the project. As St Albans residents ourselves we sincerely believe that we have raised the standard for future developments in the area.”

Edit Residential has gone above and beyond with this truly well considered development. It is evident that a high level of thought has been implemented with bespoke features such as a built-in barbeque and separate firepit, individual storage sheds and garden allotments, instant hot water taps and Duravit fittings throughout.

The apartments themselves have been created with the same in-depth consideration. They feature a range of trendy, sleek finishes, bronze external cladding and timber fins to the German matt black kitchens, a timeless and elegant colour palette, and large floor-to-ceiling glazing which maximises natural light.

With all home buyers now moved in - including the original site landowners who purchased the penthouse - London House is now complete. Richard and Angela Bird, the original landowners of the London House development, commented: “We had been looking to downsize for some time but we still wanted to stay in the same location. The opportunity to work with Edit provided us with the perfect solution; the exact apartment that we wanted in the exact same location. We also benefitted from being able to have an input into the design and we are delighted with the finished article.”

Edit Residential is now focusing on a range of other projects. “We are looking forward to ensuring all our upcoming projects are as successful as London House. We actively look to work with landowners to maximise the value of their land and our aim is to focus on creating innovative, strategic development across London and the UK.” comments Mr Aherne.
