Middlesex squandered a great opportunity as they crashed to a two-wicket defeat at Essex today.
Essex resumed the final day needing 299 but they were struggling on 123 for five. After losing three more wickets they looked down and out.
But a stunning knock of 71 by tail ender Chris Wright overwhelmed Middlesex.
The defeat leaves Middlesex still searching for their first win of County Championship Two.
