Second round of blast talks

AN EMERGENCY meeting about an explosion which destroyed three houses in South Harrow on Wednesday is due to take place today.

Borough Commander for Harrow, Chief Superintendent Richard Walton, will chair a discussion between police, the fire brigade, the ambulance service and representatives of Harrow Council.

It is the second set of high level talks to be held about the blast, which killed a man, believed to be Emad Qureshi, 26, and injured two people in Stanley Road.

The council provided accommodation last night in nearby hotels for 36 people evacuated because of the cordon around street.

It originally expected to help house 60 people but some found other places to stay.

If a police cordon is not lifted by the end of the day, residents will be forced to spend another night away from home.
